New Delhi: In a massive setback for P Chidambaram, the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday sent him to judicial custody till September 19 in a case being probed by CBI in INX Media case.

The senior Congress leader and former finance minister will have to go to Tihar jail till September 19, the court said.

Earlier during the day, the Supreme Court refused to grant anticipatory bail to the senior Congress leader in an Enforcement Directorate case involving INX Media.

Chidambaram, who was Union home minister as also finance minister during the UPA rule from 2004 to 2014, was arrested by the CBI on August 21 from his Jor Bagh residence.

Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram was also lodged in Tihar jail earlier.

The court has allowed the former Union minister carry his medicines along with him. Since Chidambaram avails Z-category security, the court has lodged him in a separate cell having adequate security arrangements.
