After a report released by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) revealed that there has been a substantial shift in the religious composition of populations across 167 countries between 1950 and 2015, inlcuding in India, where the majority Hindu population dipped by 7.82 percent as opposed to the Muslim population which surged by a 43.15 percent, reactions started flowing in from the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the opposition that said it was BJP's way of "spreading hate" and "cheating people".

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi remarked on the EAC-PM study, calling it a "report from WhatsApp University".

On being questioned about the declining share of the Hindu population as per the report, Owaisi stated: "Forward me the report then I will respond. Whose report is this? Who made this report? Report from Whatsapp University. Who made this report?

'Spreading Hate & Cheating People': RJD's Tejashwi Yadav On EAC-PM Report

Former Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also commented on the report saying, "The census which was to be done in 2021-22 did not happen till 2024. They are only talking about misleading the people of the country and spreading hatred among the people. This is the agenda of PM Modi and the BJP, they want to cheat the people of the country again."

BJP's Reaction Over EAC-PM Report

Meanwhile, commenting on the increased Muslim population in India as per the EAC-PM report, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated: "This is a report that poses many questions. One particular community is increasing population where demography of India is being altered. How much of this growth is caused by illegal immigration and conversion?"

Chandrashekhar also questioned about how the rights of other minority communities will be impacted by this increase. "There is a huge attempt by some parties, Congress to alter the Constitution and bring religion-based reservation. What is the consequence of it on OBC, SC and ST communities? These questions need to be asked and answered," he added.

Bhartiya Janta Party's in-charge of the National Information and Technology Department Amit Malviya, trained guns at the Congress party over the report and stated that if the country is left to Congress, then there would be no country for Hindus, news agency ANI reported.

Taking to his official X handle, Amit Malviya wrote: "Share of Hindus shrunk 7.8% between 1950 and 2015. The Muslim population grew by 43%. This is what decades of Congress rule did to us. Left to them, there would be no country for Hindus."

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya also slammed the grand old party for the decline in hindu population and held Congress repsonsible for it.

"This is a topic of concern and this imbalance in the population-rise in Muslim population and decline in Hindu population, has happened because of the Congress' Muslim appeasement." Keshav Prasad Maurya stated.
