New Delhi: Taking a jibe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for slandering him for dynasty politics, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said the people who “do not have family can’t feel the pain of the public”.

“He who understands the suffering of others is a yogi," Yadav said addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur.

"There was talk of building an airport in Bundelkhand, but there is no sign of it. The people cannot drive their cars or ride their motorcycles as petrol and diesel have become expensive. One has to wait in line for everything,” he added.

Lambasting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over “false promises” to the people of Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party supremo reached out to the farmers ahead of next year’s assembly polls.

"The farmers are currently in a difficult situation. There is no water in the fields and the farmers are unable to cultivate and produce two crops,” said Yadav.

“If the Samajwadi Party government is formed, we will make arrangements so that farmers can produce two crops in the fields. The farmers will not have to stand in line for fertilizers,” he added.

Escalating his attack on the BJP government, Yadav said the people have heard a lot of false promises, adding nothing will now work for them.

“The poorest people are in Bundelkhand, Mahoba and Lalitpur. The Samajwadi Party government had distributed packets here. The people did not have food to eat. The Samajwadi Party will now work to help the people make a living and help them get rid of hunger,” Yadav said.

“The Samajwadi Party had distributed milk and ghee packets. The Saharia community welcomed us. These people met us today. The poor have never suffered before as they have under this government,” he added.

The Samajwadi Party chief also lashed out at the BJP government for not paying attention towards the labourers during the Covid-19 lockdown.

“The labourers were returning on foot during the lockdown. In UP, the government put up barricades and did not allow the workers to come,” he said.

Alleging that labourers “were tied up in the same place where the cows were tied”, Yadav said the Samajwadi Party government used to send the workers by trains.
