New Delhi: India's current Omicron situation is getting worse due to the daily surge as the patients of the variant doubled up in just three days. The country has two hundred cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus so far out of which 77 patients have recovered or migrated, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The highest number of Covid cases containing the Omicron variant has been detected in Maharashtra and Delhi as both the states have recorded 54 cases of Omicron variant each, while Telangana registered 20 cases, Karnataka 19, Rajasthan 18, Kerala 15, and Gujarat 14 cases.
. However, out of the total Omicron positive, 77 have been discharged. So far 12 states have reported Omicron infection, said the Union health ministry on Tuesday.
The recovery of 8,043 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,41,95,060. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
In Maharashtra, as many as 31 patients out of 54 who have been found infected with the new coronavirus variant Omicron so far have been discharged from hospitals, a health department official said on Monday.
No fresh case of Omicron, classified as a 'variant of concern' by the WHO, was reported in the state on Monday, keeping the newly discovered strain's tally unchanged at 54, he said.
Of these, the highest 22 cases were from Mumbai.
According to the health department, 31 of the 54 patients infected with Omicron so far have been discharged from hospitals after they returned negative RT-PCR test reports.
