Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived at the train accident site in Odisha's Balasore to take stock of the situation, news agency ANI reported.
PM Narendra Modi conversed with the Cabinet Secretary and the Health Minister while situated at the site. He requested that they make certain that all necessary assistance be given to those who were injured and their loved ones. He added that it is crucial to take extra caution in ensuring that the families who are grieving don’t face inconvenience and that those affected continue to receive the necessary aid.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed by Union Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other officials about the triple train accident.
PM Modi assessed the situation at the Balasore train crash site before heading to a hospital to visit the victims of the triple train tragedy in Odisha.
While taking the stock of the situation, PM Modi was accompanied by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw & Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Balasore district witnessed the arrival of PM Modi via an Air Force helicopter at the Bahanaga Bazar Station, where the incident had occurred. To meet the survivors of the accident, he intends to make a visit to the Balasore District Hospital where the injured are being treated.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister Modi organized a gathering to evaluate the circumstances concerning the railway collision.
At Bahanaga Bazar Station in the Balasore district, a collision occurred between the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express, and a goods train, all running on distinct tracks. On Friday evening, a mishap occurred causing significant impairment to seventeen coaches of the passenger train as they were de-railed.
As stated in the initial report from the State Emergency Operation Centre, more than 900 individuals have sustained injuries. The report states that the number of casualties increased from 238 to 261.
Rescue operations were conducted by a total of 36 specialized teams consisting of Seven National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units, five Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) squads and 24 Fire Services and Emergency Units.
The Mi-17 helicopters were utilized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to evacuate those who were killed or wounded. The Eastern Command has reported that the Indian Air Force is collaborating with Indian Railways and the civil administration in order to facilitate the rescue operations.
