The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued its latest weather forecast on Friday, stating that dense to very dense fog is anticipated to remain over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh for the next three days, while Uttar Pradesh is expected to encounter similar conditions over the next five days, gradually improving after that. Furthermore, North India is predicted to see cold day to severe cold day conditions for the next two days, with an eventual reduction in intensity.

Furthermore, the meteorological bureau has issued red and orange alerts for chilly weather in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar regions. Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow notice for cold wave conditions in areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and numerous northeastern states.
The Met Office projected partly overcast skies and moderate fog in the national capital on Saturday morning, with maximum and lowest temperatures of roughly 20 and 5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The IMD issued a cold wave warning for areas of Odisha, signalling a chilly spell for the next two days. Uma Shakhar Dash, senior weather scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, stated that cold and dry winds from the northwest were contributing to the forecast cold wave conditions in a few districts of northern Odisha. The IMD issued a yellow alert for the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Angul.
The lowest temperature is forecast to stay rather steady for the next three days, with a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius after that. Notably, the mercury dipped to 6 degrees Celsius in Kirei in Sundergarh in the previous 24 hours, while numerous other areas, including Rourkela, Jharsuguda, and Angul, saw night temperatures below 12 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD, cold day to severe cold day conditions are expected to prevail in various locations from January 27 to 30, with a focus on Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Isolated areas in West Rajasthan are also expected to encounter these extreme cold weather from January 27 to 28. Furthermore, isolated pockets in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience chilly day weather on January 27.
