A day after the Congress expelled Acharya Pramod Krishnam from the party for "indiscipline" and making repeated statements against the party, the former Congress leader said that there can be no compromise on Lord Ram and the nation. Krishnam, who had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow on a Congress ticket but lost, took to X and said, “No compromise on Ram and Rashtra.” The ex-Congress leader also tagged Rahul Gandhi in his post.

Krishnam had recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya and criticised the Congress' stance of its leadership skipping the event.

"In view of complaints about indiscipline and repeatedly making statement against the party, Congress president has approved the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee's proposal to expel Shri Pramod Krishnam for six years with immediate effect," a statement issued by Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal said.

Want Congress To Expel Me For 14 Years Instead Of 6 Years: Acharya Pramod Krishnam

After being expelled from Congress, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said that he wanted the grand old party to expel him for 14 years instead of 6 years. "Lord Rama was also sent to 'Vanvaas' for 14 years. Since I am a Ram devotee, I want the Congress party should expel me for 14 years instead of 6 years," the former Congress leader said.

"I got to know yesterday that Congress has issued a letter stating that due to anti-party activities, I have been expelled from the party for six years. I want to thank the Congress for relieving me from the party," he also said.
