Nitin Gadkari Tests Covid-19 Positive: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has tested positive for Covid-19.  Taking to his official Twitter account he made the announcement and said he was doing well and has isolated himself. He requested those who have come in his contact to follow the protocol.


The 63-year-old minister said he was feeling weak after which he consulted doctor and tested positive during the course of treatment.

"Yesterday, I was feeling weak and consulted my Doctor. During the course of my check up, I have been tested COVID 19 positive. I am at present doing well with the blessings and good wishes of all. I have isolated myself," he tweeted.

"I request everyone who has come in my contact to be careful and follow the protocol. Stay safe," he said.


Gadkari is the Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Minister of Shipping and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Modi's cabinet.

He is the latest in the list of Union Ministers to contract the virus. Home Minister Amit Shah, and AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik who had tested positive earlier, have been discharged from hospital after they tested negative for the virus. Earlier, in August, Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan had tested positive for covid-19.

With a massive spike of 90,123 cases, including 1,290 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally on Wednesday crossed the grim mark of 50 lakh, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total corona tally stands at 50,20,359 cases.

Out of the total cases, 9,95,933 are active, 39,42,360 have been discharged, while 82,066 lost the battle against the viral disease. In the last 24 hours, 82,961 patients were discharged.
