Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Ram Badan told the media that the incident took place in 2014 when the MLA called the singer to her house for staging a programme, when he allegedly raped her and threatened to kill her if she spoke to anyone about the incident.

The victim has also alleged that she was raped again by the MLA in 2015, when he directed his son to drop her to home. His son and nephew again raped her before dropping her back home.

Nishad Party is the ally of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, but things are not going well for four times MLA Vijay Mishra. Mishra is termed as “Bahubali” of the region with multiple counts of different criminal activities charged against him. After UP CM Yogi’s crackdown on gangsters in the state, Mishra was arrested for his connection in a land grabbing case. His wife and his son are co-accused in the case.
The singer lodged the complaint at the Gopiganj police station against the MLA and his allies after she knew that he is in Agra Jail.

In August this year, Vijay Mishra, his wife and his son were booked in several serious cases, one of them which included land grabbing. For which his relative Krishna Mohan Mishra filed complaint. His wife Ram Lali Mishra, is out on an anticipatory bail, while his son is still absconding after the bail plea was rejected.
