New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested its former Superintendent of Police (SP) and IPS officer Arvind Digvijay Negi.
The former SP is accused of leaking secret documents to an over ground worker of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, NIA's official spokesperson informed, as reported by news agency PTI.

According to the spokesperson, Arvind Negi was arrested in connection with a case registered by the NIA on November 6 last year.
The case pertains to the spread of a network of over ground workers (OGWs) of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which provides support in the planning and execution of terrorist activities in India.
“During investigation, the role of A D Negi, IPS, SP posted at Shimla (since repatriated from NIA) was verified and his houses were searched. It was also found that official secret documents of the NIA were leaked by A D Negi to another accused person who is an OGW of LeT in the case,” the spokesperson said, as quoted by PTI.
The police officer was promoted to the IPS batch of 2011.
Notably, NIA had previously nabbed six people in the case.
Arvind Negi Suspected Of Passing On Info To Khurram Parvez: Report
According to a report by India Today in November, Arvind Negi led investigations into several terrorism-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir. He came under scrutiny as the agency suspected he might have passed on sensitive information to activist Khurram Parvez, arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), who might have further passed it on to Pakistan.
The report quoted a senior officer as saying: "Negi had sought repatriation from NIA, on personal grounds, whiffing that the agencies were onto him. It is also learnt that NIA, at the cost of its reputation, has decided not to brush things under the carpet."
The Union home ministry was informed about the matter, it stated.
