NIA Announces Rs 10 Lakh Reward For Details Leading To Arrest Of Khalistani Terrorist 'Balbir Singh'

The case concerns the Khalistan Liberation Front, Babbar Khalsa International, and the International Sikh Youth Federation's plot to wage war against the country.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on Tuesday (May 23) for information leading to the arrest of a Khalistani terrorist wanted in a case of conspiracy to wage war against the country, news agency PTI reported citing an official. According to the NIA, Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, alias "Balbir Singh," a resident of Ludhiana, is wanted in connection with the case, which was registered here on August 20 last year under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the official said.

The case concerns the Khalistan Liberation Front, Babbar Khalsa International, and the International Sikh Youth Federation's plot to wage war against the country.

"Galwaddi is evading capture and is wanted by the NIA in connection with terrorist activities of proscribed terrorist organisations in various parts of the country. The NIA has declared a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh against Galwaddi," an NIA spokesperson said, releasing two photos of the accused.

The agency sought vital information on Galwaddi, which led to his arrest or apprehension, and stated that "the identity of the informer shall be kept secret."

The NIA provided the telephone, WhatsApp, and Telegram numbers, as well as email addresses, of its Delhi headquarters and Chandigarh branch office for people to provide information about the accused. 

Since April 23, the Waris Punjab De (WPD) chief has been imprisoned in Dibrugarh after being apprehended in Rhode village in Punjab's Moga district.

Notably, nine other Amritpal associates, including his close aide Papalpreet and uncle Harjit Singh, have been imprisoned in Dibrugarh since March. The radical preacher, according to jail sources, is being held in a separate cell. Officers from the central agency have already questioned him. 

Amritpal was on the run since March 18, when Punjab Police launched an extensive manhunt for him. The crackdown came almost three weeks after Amritpal's supporters stormed Amritsar's Ajnala police station on February 23, demanding the release of one of his close aides, Lovepreet Toofan.
