New Delhi: The last day of the year 2021 is here with everyone planning to celebrate with their loved ones. For Delhiites, besides Omicron scare there is one more reason to stay inside on New Year’s eve.
Apart from the spread of Omicron which has led to the cancellation of New Year gatherings, the cold wave which is hitting Delhi gives more reasons to stay inside and celebrate New Year’s eve at home.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cold wave to severe cold wave conditions on December 31, 2021, which is likely to be extended till January 3, 2022. Besides that, ground frost can also be experienced in isolated parts of Delhi and nearby areas of Haryana and Chandigarh.

The Met department also observed cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in Delhi as well as other Northwestern regions of Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh.
Besides Delhi, other regions of North and Northwest India are also likely to witness cold wave to severe cold wave conditions on New Year’s eve prevailing for the next few days.
As per the IMD, pockets of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, UP, and MP will experience cold waves and a significant drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius in the next few days starting from New Year’s eve.
Central India is likely to see a 2-4 degrees Celsius drop in temperature in the next three days. East India is likely to experience a drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius. Dense fog is also predicted over Uttar Pradesh, and East and North-East India in the next few days.
