New Delhi: The Congress Party's official Twitter account ended up making a major gaffe wherein the wrong photo was tweeted for remembering Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa on his death anniversary.

Twitter users are questioning the party over the ill-informed choice of photo in its creative.

It all started when Congress's Twitter account featured a tweet remembering Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa OBE on his death anniversary and the party's social media team ended up tweeting a photo of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw instead.

When the mistake got highlighted, the tweet was deleted followed by a new one posed with the correct photo. However, the damage was done and several users have trolled the party over this gaffe.

Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa OBE was the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, appointed in 1949. He had led the Indian forces on the Western Front during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. He is one of only two Indian Army officers to hold the Five-star rank of Field Marshal; the other being Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
