New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the plea seeking to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2022) examination. The apex court said the request cannot be entertained as it would affect the care of patients and doctors' career, ANI reported. The NEET-PG examination is scheduled to be held on May 21.
The Supreme Court had agreed to hear the plea of doctors seeking postponement of the examination on the ground that it will clash with the ongoing counselling for NEET-PG 2021.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also came out in support of medical students on Friday demanding to reschedule National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022.

The Congress leader noted that the demand for postponement of the examination of the candidates of NEETPG 2022 is justified. Candidates are not responsible for the delay in counseling of NEET-PG2021, Gandhi tweeted in Hindi on Friday.
“Doctors served lakhs of people day and night during the Corona period. The government should not harass them, listen to them and do justice,” reads the tweet.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and PS Narasimha had agreed to hear the matter listed for hearing on Friday after senior advocate Rakesh Khanna mentioned for urgent listing of the petition. The plea sought direction to quash the notification dated February 4 issued by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences for holding the NEET PG-2022 examination on May 21 and or defer the scheduled date of the examination.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday urging him to reschedule the NEET-PG examination.
In their plea, the association has urged the minister to reschedule the exam citing that the AIQ counselling anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2022 is still in process and is uncertain if it will end by May 7, according to the news agency ANI.
