New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday released its joint manifesto for the upcoming polls in the state, wherein they promised a Rs 1,500 monthly pension to eligible women. One of the prominent promises included in the manifesto is Rs 3,000 monthly financial assistance to unemployed youth.
JanaSena chief Pawan Kalyan said the manifesto is an amalgamation of TDP’s “super six” and his party’s “Shanmukha Vyuham”, reported PTI.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had introduced its "super six" initiative earlier, outlining a range of promises aimed at enhancing the welfare of Andhra Pradesh's citizens. Among these commitments were promises to provide free bus travel for women, distribute three free cooking gas cylinders per household annually, and offer Rs 15,000 annually to every school-going child.
Collaborating with Janasena and the BJP as part of the NDA in the state, the TDP has been allocated 144 assembly and 17 Lok Sabha constituencies, while the BJP will contest in six Lok Sabha and 10 assembly seats.
JanaSena will contest two Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly seats. Elections in the state are scheduled for May 13 to fill the 175-member assembly and elect the representatives for the state's 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Naidu Confident Of 'Overwhelming Majority'
TDP leader and former Andhra CM N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed confidence in his party's prospects for the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh, attributing his optimism to what he perceives as "rising anti-incumbency sentiment" against the ruling YSR Congress.
Naidu, aiming to reclaim power in the state, said the TDP-BJP-JanaSena Party (JSP) alliance is poised for a sweeping victory. The alliance will win 24 Lok Sabha seats, and 160 assembly seats, he added.
Ahead of the 2019 elections, the TDP exited the NDA over the alleged lack of central funding for the state and its unfulfilled demand for special status. Kalyan withdrew support from the TDP in 2018.
Andhra Pradesh is set to witness both the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections simultaneously on May 13.
