New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinayak Ambekar was allegedly attacked by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers in Pune, Maharashtra, on Sunday over a social media post against party supremo Sharad Pawar. Alleging that NCP MP Girish Bapat asked him to tender an apology for his social media post, Ambedkar lodged a complaint with the Pune Police accusing some 20 NCP workers of beating him up in his office. “Today, I got a call from someone who said he wanted some tax advice,” PTI reported the BJP leader as saying.
“This man came to my office with 20 people and slapped me. My spectacles broke. I have submitted a complaint with police and want a case to be registered,” he added.
A group of people can be seen surrounding Ambedkar, who is a BJP spokesperson, in his office and slapping him in a video of the incident that has gone viral.
This comes as an NCP worker had earlier lodged a complaint against Ambedkar at the Vishrambaug Police Station over his alleged derogatory post about Pawar.
Meanwhile, Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale has been arrested by the Thane Police after a complaint was filed against her for allegedly sharing a ‘derogatory’ post about Pawar on social media platforms.
Allegedly referring to the NCP supremo whose party shares power with the Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra, Chitale in her post used phrases like “hell is waiting” and “you hate Brahmins”.
