In what could be termed as an awkward moment, a different song was played during Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra instead of the national anthem. The video shows Rahul Gandhi taking the mic and saying now the ‘Rashtrageet’ will be played. But a different song is played out.

Everyone on stage looked surprised when the incident happened. A video of the moment is viral on social media.

There is another goof-up in the entire scenario which even the netizens have pointed out. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pronounced national anthem as Rashtrageet (national song) instead of Rashtragaan. India’s national song is Vande Mataram.

It all happened after Rahul Gandhi ended his speech at Washim in Maharashtra on Wednesday night and announced that there would be “Rashtrageet”. Everyone on stage stood in attention. And then an unknown song in a different language was played.

The Congress leader looked around in surprise while those on stage tried to stop the music. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole called out to the person in charge of music and had it stopped. The national anthem was then played.

Netizens are saying that the song that was played mistakenly was the Nepali anthem.

Several BJP leaders took to twitter to criticise the Congress leader for his mistake. Reacting to the video, BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar said, “National song of those trying to unite India?”
