Modi 3.0 Oath Ceremony: The national capital has been declared a no-flying zone on June 9 and 10 due to the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for a third consecutive term. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora issued an order on Friday imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, citing potential threats from criminal or anti-social elements and terrorists. 

"In exercise of the power conferred upon me by Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-size powered aircraft, quadcopters, or even by parachuting from aircraft over Delhi during the swearing-in ceremony and doing so shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code," Arora stated in the order. The restrictions will be in force from June 9 to June 10, the order added.

President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Modi and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7:15 pm on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, news agency ANI reported. This follows Modi's appointment as Prime Minister-designate on Friday after BJP chief J P Nadda submitted a letter of Modi’s election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party, along with letters of support from NDA leaders.

3-Layered Security In Delhi For PM Modi's Swearing-In Ceremony, Enhanced Checks To Begin From Saturday

A comprehensive multi-layered security arrangement is set to envelop the Rashtrapati Bhawan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on June 9, according to Delhi Police officials cited by news agency PTI. The national capital will be on high alert as dignitaries from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nations have been invited to the event.

A senior police officer disclosed that the security measures will include five companies of paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers. “The event will see a three-layered security arrangement both inside and outside the Rashtrapati Bhawan,” the officer stated, as quoted by PTI. The outer ring will be managed by Delhi Police personnel, followed by paramilitary forces, with the internal security managed by the President's house security team.

According to PTI, as top leaders from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, and Seychelles are expected to attend the ceremony, designated routes have been assigned from their hotels to the venue and back to ensure their safety. Notable hotels such as Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, Claridges, and Oberoi have already been brought under the security cover, as per the report.

Approximately 2,500 police personnel, including five companies of paramilitary and Delhi Armed Police (DAP) jawans, will be deployed around the venue. Snipers and armed police will also be stationed along the routes of the dignitaries. Drones will be utilised at strategic locations throughout the New Delhi district, mirroring the security protocols used during the G20 summit last year, PTI reported.

The Delhi Police have conducted multiple meetings to finalise the security plan. “Several roads leading to central Delhi may be closed or subject to traffic diversions starting Sunday morning,” another officer noted, as quoted by PTI. Enhanced checks will be in place at the borders of the national capital from Saturday onwards.

Rashtrapati Bhavan Cancels Change Of Guard Ceremony

In preparation for the ceremony, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced the cancellation of the Change of Guard ceremony on June 8, 15, and 22. This weekly military tradition, which involves a fresh group of the President’s Bodyguards taking charge, will not take place on these dates due to the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony and the President's address to both Houses of Parliament.

High-profile international attendees, including Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, are set to arrive in Delhi on June 9 for the ceremony. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has also accepted the invitation and will be visiting India officially for the first time since his election, as per News portal Edition.mv which quoted its sister-publication in Dhivehi, Mihaaru News. 

The guest list for the ceremony aligns with New Delhi's Neighbourhood First Policy, reflecting its strategic emphasis on island nations in the Indian Ocean region.  

Modi's appointment as Prime Minister-designate comes after the BJP-led NDA secured a comfortable majority in the recent Lok Sabha elections, winning 293 seats.

"The President, having satisfied herself on the basis of the various letters of support received, that the BJP-led NDA alliance, which is also the largest pre-election alliance, is in a position to command majority support of the newly-constituted 18th Lok Sabha and to form a stable government, appointed Shri Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India," the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a communiqué.

The NDA delegation presenting their support to President Murmu included senior leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, N Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Eknath Shinde, and several others from allied parties.
