Polling is underway in Kerala in 140 constituencies in the state with 957 candidates in the fray. Among the early voters, the state witnessed BJP candidate E Sreedharan during the early hours of voting in the polling booth exercising his right to franchise.
The BJP candidate for the Palakkad constituency was accompanied by his wife. Speaking to the media, Metroman E Sreedharan said, "BJP will have an impressive show this time, there's no doubt about it. I will win from the Palakkad constituency with a big margin. My entry into BJP has given a different image to the party."
The renowned technocrat also said that people are voting for development and he should continue to serve my state and that is why he chose BJP.
Sreedharan is a highly-admired technocrat who is recognized not only in India, but also abroad for his accomplishments in transforming the face of the public transport system in our country. He has been fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party in an attempt to make the Lotus bloom in Kerala.
Polling began at 7 am on Tuesday for one of the busiest days in the ongoing Assembly election in all four states and one Union Territory - West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Polling is being held for a total of 824 assembly constituencies Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora said.
