Mumbai: The MGM New Bombay Hospital, Vashi computer network fell prey to a ransomware attack with hackers are now demanding bitcoins.
As per reports, the incident was reported when the multi-speciality hospital authorities tried to access the computer system but found it locked. The hackers then demanded bitcoins in exchange for unlocking the encrypted systems. An email ID was also provided by the hackers in order to contact.
Navi Mumbai Police has filed the case and started the investigation in the case.
Last year, a cyber attack spread panic across India and the world after infecting thousands of computers of hospitals, railways, police and private companies, forcing everybody to firm up action against such malicious attempts.
Similar to this case, these Cyber extortionists had forced victims into opening malicious attachments, infected the computers and then demanded $300 to $600 to restore the systems and were asked to pay through the digital currency bitcoin.
