New Delhi: Mumbai police has imposed restrictions on movement and gathering under section 144 of CrPC in the city due to rising corona cases, which shall be effective midnight. The restrictions shall come to end on September 30th at 24:00 hrs (midnight).  The order prohibits any presence of movement of one or more persons in public places, or gathering any sort anywhere, including religious places subject to conditions mentioned in the order.  The order mentions all activities mentioned in GoM Mission Begin Again order dated 31.08.2020 are exempted. It is to be noted that Maharashtra is the worst hit state by covid-19 with 2,97,506 active cases of coronavirus.

The order signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) read: "All movement of one or more persons in areas designated as "containment zone" by the Municipal Authorities is prohibited, except for essential activities, supply of essential goods and medical emergencies."

All movement of one or more persons in the city is prohibited except for medical emergencies and for the following exempted entities:

  • Emergency Duties

  • Govt or Semi/Govt agencies and their officials on duty

  • Establishments providing essential services like

  • Food, vegetables, Milk supplies, Ration and Grocery Stores;

  • hospitals, medicine, pharma and related establishments, pathology, laboratories, medical/nursing colleges.

  • telephone & internet services

  • electricity, petroleum, oil and energy related,

  • banking, stock exchange, stock brokers

  • IT & IT enabled services and Data Centres providing services for critical national and international infrastructure and needed for above essential and emergency services

  • Media

  • Ports

  • Services providing home delivery of food, grocery and essential commodities

  • E-commerce activity for essential and non-essential items ad materials

  • Drinking water supply and maintenance'

  • Godown and warehousing related to all of the above

  • trucks, tempos carrying goods and manpower related to above services


It further reads that all movement of one or more persons in the city for non-essential activities is prohibited except for the exempted entities mentioned.

However, there's no change in unlock guidelines. Unlocking to go on as per 31.08.2020 GoM orders. The order mentions all activities mentioned in 31.08.2020 GoM Mission Begin Again orders are exempted.

Alarmed by the increase in spread of the Covid-19 scourge, people in several cities and towns in Maharashtra are opting for voluntary 'Janata curfews' to control the pandemic, officials said on Thursday.

Nagpur, the state's second capital, has decided to go for a 'Janata curfew' for two of the remaining weekends of September -- starting from September 18 night till September 21 morning followed by September 25 night till September 28 morning.

Nagpur Mayor Sandeep Joshi has appealed that the decision be taken at the behest of demands from peoples' representatives and the common citizens in view of the rising Covid-19 cases and deaths in the city.

India on Thursday saw a massive single day spike of 97,894 new cases and 1,132 deaths in the last 24 hours, India's Covid-19 tally on Thursday crossed the 51-lakh mark with total number of cases reaching to 51,18,253.

Of the total cases so far, 10,09,976 are active, while around 40,25,080 have recovered from the deadly virus and 83,198 have died due to the pandemic, the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
