Mumbai: NCP Leader Nawab Malik's Judicial Custody Extended Till April 4

It is alleged that Nawab Malik purchased 3 acres of land in the Goa compound in Kurla from Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

New Delhi: Judicial custody of Nawab Malik, minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, has been extended till April 4. Nawab Malik will remain in Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai. However, during the hearing, Mumbai Sessions Court granted a few relaxations for Nawab Malik.

The court has allowed the NCP leader, who is in jail in connection with a money laundering case, to use a personal chair, a mattress, and a bed. 

Nawab Malik was admitted to the hospital a few days after his arrest by ED. It was reported that he was suffering from acute back pain. After this, the minister made a plea in court to be allowed to use a personal bed and chair.

The arrest of Nawab Malik is in connection with the purchase of land from the family of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. ED arrested Nawab Malik on February 23 in connection with the case.

The investigating agency has registered a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. After the arrest, ED took Nawab Malik into custody and interrogated him. On March 7, after his remand was over, a Mumbai court further sent him to another 14 days of judicial custody.

It is alleged that Nawab Malik purchased 3 acres of land in the Goa compound in Kurla from Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. According to the investigation, the current value of the land is around Rs 300 crore.
