New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a residential building at the Napean Sea Road area of Mumbai on Tuesday.


The blaze erupted at around 4:40 am today. It turned into a level-II blaze at 6:05 am, as per local reports.Two women who were trapped on upper floors were rescued.

Three fire engines were rushed to the spot and cooling operations are underway, while the officials are trying to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Napean sea road is a upscale area in south Mumbai with residences of several top industrialists and celebrities.

No injuries were reported due to the blaze which broke out at the sixth floor of the building at around 4:40 am. Two women who were trapped on the upper floors were safely rescued.

"There was no casualty in the mishap, he said, adding that two women got tapped on upper floors of the building and were later rescued by the fire brigade," a fire official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The blaze erupted at around 4.40 am in the flat located on the sixth floor of Atlas building, and gutted its two bedrooms, electric wiring and installations, wooden beds, bedding, furniture and clothing, the official said. "Two women trapped on upper floors were rescued. No one is reported injured in the blaze," he said.
