New Delhi: Covid cases are on a rise at a rapid pace in Maharashtra as Mumbai witnessed a swell of 70% in cases reported on Tuesday. Looking at the current situation Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed that further restrictions can be introduced in the financial capital of India if the upward covid positivity rate trend is not curbed.
"Mumbai's positivity rate is at 4%. If this goes above 5%, then we will have to think about imposing restrictions. CM will hold a meeting Covid Task Force soon," informed Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday.
"We have to think of imposing restrictions to control crowds in public transport, wedding ceremonies, etc," Maharashtra Health Minister added.
"We need to focus on the Covid-19 vaccination. We are planning to administer vaccines to 15-18-year-old children in schools," Rajesh Tope said a forward action plan to battle the coronavirus menace.

As per the state health minister, Maharashtra has reported 167 Omicron cases so far out of these 90 patients have been discharged. None of the patients with the omicron variant have been reported to be in serious condition.
Maharashtra government last week announced night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am till further orders and a slew of other measures to contain a mass spread.
Latest Guidelines By Maharashtra Government:
- A gathering of more than 5 persons in public places across the state is prohibited from 9 pm to 6 am.
- Not more than 100 guests are allowed for indoor weddings and not more than 250 guests for outdoor weddings.
- Gyms, spas, hotels, theaters, and cinema halls can operate at 50% capacity.
- For social, political, religious events, the number of attendees should not be more than 100.
- Not more than 25% of any space’s capacity is allowed to be in attendance in open spaces.
