Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP), last rites will be held on Tuesday at approximately 3 pm in Saifai village, his hometown in the Etawah district, the party said in an issued statement. The funeral proceedings will be held with state honours, the Uttar Pradesh government announced earlier.

Former Uttar Pradesh CM died Monday in Medanta hospital in Gurugram, where he was undergoing treatment. Mulayam, 82, was admitted to the hospital in August, was shifted to ICU on October 2 and was on lifesaving drugs since. According to hospital sources, he breathed his last at 8.15 a.m. on Monday.

To attend the funeral services for Mulayam Singh Yadav, defence minister Rajnath Singh will go to Saifai, ANI reported.

The 82-year-old Samajwadi Party patriarch was facing difficulty in breathing and was under the supervision of an internal medicine expert at the Medanta Hospital, as per sources. Singh was suffering from a urinary infection as well, hospital sources had said.
