New Delhi: Dubbing as “unfortunate” Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra’s remarks against the Jain community, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday said a conspiracy has been done under a dangerous mindset to mislead the world over that community.
Naqvi said it is unfortunate that a TMC MP spoke on the floor of the House with the mindset to defame the Jain community and their culture.
“Under a dangerous mindset, a conspiracy has been done to mislead the world over that community,” he added, ANI reported.
The Union Minority Affairs Minister also cornered the Congress on the issue questioning the silence of the “secular syndicate”.
“Senior leaders of Congress were sitting in the Parliament, the secular syndicate was sitting there too. They were silent,” said
Naqvi.
“The members of our party objected. We will meet the Speaker (Om Birla) and speak with him, action should be taken as per the rules,”
he added.
Earlier on Thursday, the TMC MP courted controversy during her speech in the Lok Sabha for insinuating that Jains eat non-vegetarian food secretly on the streets of Ahmedabad.
Moitra, who was told to speak with love and not anger by the chair in the Lok Sabha, hit out on social media against presiding officer Rama Devi stating she is not the “moral science teacher for LS”.
“And who is Chair to interrupt me (taking up MY valuable time) to lecture me on whether I should speak with gussa or pyar? None of your
business Madam. You can only correct me on rules. You are NOT the moral science teacher for LS,” she tweeted.
