New Delhi: Peace was restored in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur a day after violent clashes erupted between two groups.


Prohibitory orders and Section 144 has been imposed in the region.

The violence broke out on Saturday after stones were pelted on a procession being carried out on Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

As per reports, the incident started at around 1 pm when two parties started fighting over DJ music. This minor rift later escalated to people hurling stones at each other. They also torched several vehicles and vandalised an electronic goods store, the police said





"Police resorted to lathicharge and lobbed tear gas shells to control the situation," the Sub Divisional Officer of Police, Kotwali, Padam Singh Baghel, told media

After the violence, prohibitory orders were clamped in the town and section 144 has also been imposed.
