MoS Home Nityanand Rai Tests Covid-19 Positive Day After Meeting CAPF Chiefs
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs tested positive a day after he attended an event where chiefs of Central Armed Police Forces were present.
New Delhi: Nityanand Rai became the latest Union minister to test positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs tested positive a day after he attended an event where chiefs of Central Armed Police Forces were present.
"I have tested positive for Covid. I have completely isolated myself. People who came in contact with me are requested to take necessary steps," Nityanand Rai tweeted in Hindi.

On Thursday morning, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar tested positive for the virus.
Earlier this week, Union Minister for Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey was admitted at a hospital after he tested positive for the infection.

On Wednesday, the minister attended an event at the Shaurya Officer's Institute in New Delhi where Ayushman health cards were distributed among CAPF personnel.
Chiefs of CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF and SSB were present at the event. Representatives of NSG and the Assam Rifles were also present.
At the event, Nityanand Rai said the government had provided about 35 lakh Ayushman health cards to CAPF personnel and their families. They can now avail cashless treatment at 24,000 empanelled hospitals across the country, the minister said.
"There will be no limit for expenditure (under the scheme)," the Union Minister said after giving out the last 10 cards.
"It will now become much easier for the kin of personnel of various forces who live in remote areas of the country to get treatment," PTI quoted Rai as saying.
