V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, will go to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain on May 1-3 and 4-5, respectively. During his tour, the Minister of State will meet with his counterparts in both nations and connect with the Indian community. MoS's trip to Saudi Arabia comes very close to his visit from 25-28 April 2023 to Jeddah to oversee Operation Kaveri for the evacuation of Indian citizens from Sudan, news agency ANI reported.
Earlier on Friday, MoS interacted with Indians put up at the transit facility in Jeddah. The evacuees told MoS that they were feeling at home.
“Interacted with Indians put up at transit facility at Jeddah. Glad to hear from them that they are feeling at home. Appreciate volunteers, officials of @CGIJeddah, @IndianEmbRiyadh for their excellent involvement and hard work,” MoS MEA V Muraleedharan had tweeted.
Muraleedharan also praised the activities of Indian volunteers in Jeddah and in Saudi Arabia.
The transit centre in Jeddah, where Indians evacuated from Sudan are welcomed and temporarily housed before returning to India, is completely furnished, with mattresses, food, fresh meals, restrooms, medical facilities, and Wi-Fi.
A control room is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
