According to a report by IANS, the monsoon is advancing through Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The IMD also said that both states will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 4-5 days.
The department has informed that conditions are also favourable for the monsoon t cover remaining parts of UP, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Rajasthan. After temperatures increased to 40 degrees in the early weeks of June, the national capital has been witnessing sporadic rainfall accompanied with strong winds in the last few days.
"Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over remaining parts of the western Himalayan region and the plains of northwest India during 24th-25th June," IMD added in the report.

The advancement of the monsoon according to the weather bureau is also influenced by a cyclonic circulation developing over north interior Odisha and the neighbouring areas.
This is having strengthened the easterly wind and feeding of high moisture from the Bay of Bengal over North India. This condition had helped the monsoon to advance to Madhya Pradesh, UP and Uttarakhand.
The IMD had earlier stated that India will receive normal monsoon from June to September.
