New Delhi: A day after being quizzed for over 5.5 hours by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra’s troubles are likely to mount as an alleged mail trail between him and Sumit Chadha has come to light.

As per reports, Chadha is a relative of Sanjay Bhandari, with whom Vadra denied any Vadra denied any association and refused to recognise. As per reports, Vadra also denied any association with the named properties and also links with Bhandari.

The mail dated April 8, 2010 sent by Sumit Chadha, was CCd to an email account named Deltabhandari@hotmail.com. In the mail, Vadra has been asked to agree with a man named ‘Mr B’ on the finances related to property finances.

Even Bharatiya Janta Party in their allegations against Vadra mentioned Sanjay Bhandari’s name on Wednesday. Speaking on the issue, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Sanjay Bhandari, a close aide of Robert Vadra, bought this posh property in London worth 1.9 million pounds as a kickback k from a petroleum deal. Vadra benefited from a petroleum deal Vadra benefited from a petroleum deal as well as a defence deal which took place between 2008-09. It has been found by t by the ED that he has stacked eight-nine properties in London. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be a fight between the gang of corrupt versus the transparency of Narendra Modi government”.

Robert Vadra, the brother-in-law of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, was questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its money laundering probe into alleged possession of illegal foreign assets, days after he was directed by a city court to appear before the central probe agency.

Vadra has denied allegations of possessing illegal foreign assets and termed them a political witch hunt against him. He has alleged he was being "hounded and harassed" to subserve political ends.



He is likely to be questioned again by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday.
