Modi New Cabinet Meeting HIGHLIGHTS: Meetings of Cabinet and Council of Ministers (CoM) was held today at 5 pm and 7 pm, respectively.
During the Council Of Ministers meeting, PM Modi has even advised new ministers to avoid making unnecessary statements.
PM Modi tells new ministers to meet predecessors and learn from their experience, sources close to ABP News said. At the meeting of new Council of Ministers, PM says those no longer part of it made contributions and newcomers can learn from them.
The Prime Minister has also asked ministers to reach office on time and channelise all their energy into ministerial work
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday appealed to farmer unions to end their protest and resume talks with the government on provisions of three new farm laws, but he ruled out repeal of these Acts.
"Through you, I want to appeal farmers unions to think seriously on these issues and end the protest. They should adopt the path of dialogue. And the government is ready for discussion," he said while replying to a query during a Cabinet briefing.
Mandaviya said that under the new package, the Centre would provide Rs 15,000 crore and states Rs 8,000 crore and the plan would be implemented jointly by them across all the 736 districts of the country to improve medical infrastructure at primary and district health centres.
"Cabinet nod to Rs 23,123-crore package to boost emergency health infra in states to tackle Covid," the newly-appointed Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed.
The package approved by Cabinet will be implemented by the Centre and states from July this year to March 2022, he added.

Mansukh Mandaviya, India's new Health Minister, on Thursday announced Rs 23,000 Cr Emergency Health Package for the country to deal with Coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing second wave.

Union Cabinet meeting is underway in a virtual format. The meeting will be followed by a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which will be chaired by PM Modi.
Raj Kumar Singh assumed charge as Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy. Singh has already been steering the ministries in independent charge as a minister of state. In the latest cabinet reshuffle, he has been promoted to the rank of cabinet minister.
Sources close to ABP News have said that a decision on IPO of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) can be taken during the cabinet meeting. Earlier in the day, the Central government has changed LIC's position of Chairman to Chief Executive Officer, which means the one who would head the state-owned insurance company will be called CEO.

According to reports, the Union Cabinet and Council of Ministers will meet today. PM Modi is expected to make some important decisions. Two meetings will be held back-to-back. Cabinet meeting likely to take place at 5 pm, while the Council of Ministers may meet at 7 pm.

Modi New Cabinet Meeting HIGHLIGHTS: In the first biggest revamp of the Union Cabinet during the second term of Modi government, as many as 43 ministers, both old and new, took oath of ministries on Wednesday at Delhi's Darbar Hall in presence of President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others.
While Bharatiya Janata Party's second-in-command and Union Home Minister Amit Shah was given additional charge of newly formed Minsitry of Co-Operation, Mansukh Mandaviya ( Minister-in-charge of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Chemicals and Fertilizers) now will also head Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
As a part of the cabinet reshuffle, BJP MP Ashwini Vaishnaw was appointed as IT Minister soon after senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad tendered his resignation on Wednesday. Vaishnaw has also been given additional charge of the Ministry of Railways.
