Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Indian diaspora after he arrived at Hotel Lotte Palace in New York on Sunday morning (IST). Members of the Indian community in the US were eagerly waiting for him, and several artistes put up a performance at the hotel to welcome him.

The members of the Indian community expressed their excitement to meet PM Modi and chanted slogans. "We are here to welcome our PM Narendra Modi. We are very excited to meet & greet him personally," a member of the Indian diaspora in New York said.

A woman who had come to meet the Prime Minister brought a handmade portrait drawn by a child who suffers from Type 1 diabetes. She said she wanted to thank Modi for the insulin that they provided to her child.

One of the performers, Suman Garewal, told ANI that she was very happy to meet PM Modi. "This is the first time in my life that I met a PM of the country..."

An artiste with roots in Haryana's Rohtak, speaking to ANI, said they were happy to see the prime minister, “He has lifted our country to new heights...On behalf of the people of Haryana, I extend him best wishes and welcome him to the US.”

Another artiste from Rohtak said they got to take photos with PM Modi, and when they saw him smile during their performance, "all of our exhaustion disappeared".

Pari Rana, who also has roots in Rohtak, told ANI, that she was “born and raised in New York... [but] meeting Prime Minister Modi was absolutely mindblowing". "Since I was born, he is the only Prime Minister of India I have known. From what I have heard, he has made India the best possible country.”
