Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch 511 rural skill development centres in the name of late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan in Maharashtra on Thursday via video conferencing. As per an official statement, these centres are being established across 34 rural districts of Maharashtra. They will conduct skill development training programmes across various sectors to provide employment opportunities to the rural youth, the statement read.
"Each centre will train about 100 youngsters in at least two vocational courses. The training is being provided by empanelled industry partners and agencies under the National Skill Development Council," the statement said. The establishment of these centres will help the region attain significant strides towards developing a more competent and skilled manpower, it added. Mahajan was a leading national leader of the BJP. He died in 2006 at the age of 56.
On Friday, PM Modi willl inaugurate India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). He will inaugurate the 17-kilometre priority section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor in Ghaziabad. In the first phase, the rapid rail service is going to start from Sahibabad to Duhai, which is about 17 kilometres long.
During this period, this train will stop at 5 stations, which are Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai terminals. The Delhi-Meerut RRTS will cover 82 kilometres in just an hour's time once it is completed in 2025. The RRTS is being developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), a joint venture involving the Government of India and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
The construction of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor was started in 2019. The first look of the RRTS train was unveiled a year later. The trains have a look similar to metro trains, but their coaches are equipped with features like luggage carriers and mini-screens.
The 82km stretch from Delhi to Meerut will be covered in less than 60 minutes by highspeed, high-frequency, safe, reliable, comfortable and green public transit.
As far as the ticket price is concerned, the minimum fare of the rapid rail can be kept at Rs 15 to Rs 20, and the maximum fare can be kept up to Rs 160.
