The Special Cell of the Delhi Police recently arrested two suspected terrorists, Naushad and Jagjit, in the Jahangirpuri area. The police also recovered two military-grade hand grenades, three pistols, and cartridges from the suspects.
According to Additional Commissioner of Delhi Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha, Naushad and Jagjit were planning to target right-wing leaders in the country. They had been funded and were preparing for the attacks. "They killed a man in December 2022 only to demonstrate their capabilities to their handlers," said Kushwaha.
Two military-grade hand grenades, three pistols, and several cartridges were seized from them.
Naushad was being directed by a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler, while Jagjit's handler was Arshdeep Dalla, a designated terrorist based in Canada. The police are investigating further to gather more information about the suspects' plans and the individuals funding them.
The arrests of Naushad and Jagjit have been hailed as a major success for the Delhi Police's Special Cell in preventing a potential terrorist attack, reported ANI. The police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs last week declared Canada-based gangster Arshdeep Singh Gill, also known as Arsh Dalla, a designated terrorist after discovering his involvement in crimes such as murder, extortion, targeted killings, and terrorism.
According to the MHA notification, Gill is associated with the Khalistan Tiger Force and is accused of various offences, including targeted killing, extortion for terrorism funding, attempted murder, inciting communal strife, and spreading terror in Punjab.
