New Delhi: The Dominica government will send Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi back to Antigua and Barbuda. Prime Minister Geston Brown told ABP News that he has received information regarding this.


Choksi had gone missing from Antigua and Barbuda for three days. The businessman was captured on Tuesday night (local time) after an Interpol Yellow Notice was issued by Antigua and Barbuda.

Meanwhile, Mehul Choksi's lawyer Marsh Wayne in Dominica told ABP News that he met the Geetanjali Group Chairman at the police station this morning. According to the lawyer, Mehul claims that he was kidnapped and brought to Dominica. There are claims regarding assault as well.


His lawyers are filing appeals in the court for relief in the case. 


Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Brownlee was reported to have asked Dominica to hand over Mehul Choksi directly to India.


Choksi was caught during a manhunt that was launched after he went missing on Sunday. Local authorities had informed that they were collaborating with the Indian government, neighbouring countries, and international police organisation to try and locate Choksi.


After the news of Choksi's arrest in Dominica on Tuesday night, Brownie told the media that he had given clear instructions to officials for deporting Choksi to India.


"Browne has asked that officials in Dominica make Choksi persona non grata and have him deported directly to India," the Antigua Observor reported.


Choksi, an accused in the Rs 13,500 crore PNB fraud case along with his nephew Nirav Modi, has been residing in Antigua and Barbuda since January 4, 2018.


The CBI and ED have filed separate chargesheets in the case and are trying for the extradition of Choksi.
