New Delhi: The Congress party in Rajasthan is set to hold a large gathering, which would include Congress President Sonia Gandhi along with leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to target the centre in response to rising inflation and the surging prices of key goods like vegetables and gasoline.

The rally will be held in Jaipur. Congress representatives from around Rajasthan have already arrived in Jaipur to participate in the event, which will take place at the Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "Today is a historic day for Rajasthan when a national rally is being organised in Jaipur to protest against the rising inflation due to wrong policies of the central government, in which all the senior leaders of the party including the top Congress leadership are participating."

The event is noteworthy because it is intended to set the stage for the party's campaign for seven Assembly elections next year, notably in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab, where the party is fighting to keep power.

'Mehangai Hatao Maharally...Will Be Decisive Struggle Against Modi Govt': Surjewala

Randeep Surjewala, a senior Congress politician, said on Saturday that the party's 'Mehangai Hatao Maharally' in Jaipur on December 12 will be a decisive struggle against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

He claimed that the anti-people Modi administration had dealt people a double blow by first stifling their employment options and then throwing them into the furnace of inflation.

"On December 12, Rajasthan will witness a great war against inflation. It will be a decisive fight against the Modi government, which is driven by overweening arrogance of power and is in deep slumber. The echo of the rally will be heard in the entire country," Surjewala was quoted by PTI in its report.

Surjewala claimed that the Modi government was ignorant of the "bravery of Rajasthanis" who have previously defeated "arrogant dictators."

He said that the Modi administration has only provided chances for capitalists while defrauding the ordinary man over the previous seven years.

He claims that necessities such as gas, diesel, vegetables, beans, oil, and salt have grown out of reach for the average person.

'It Will Become A......Downfall For The BJP Govt': Pilot

Rajasthan Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot have predicted that the 'mehangai hatao' march will be the demise of the BJP administration at the centre, which has been heavily rebuked by multiple opposition parties for rising prices.

"It will become a factor of downfall for the BJP government at the Centre in 2024," Pilot said in a statement.

He stated that the Centre will be held accountable for seven years of "misgovernance" and will be required to implement anti-inflationary measures.

BJP Labels Rally As 'Political Hypocrisy'

Meanwhile, state BJP president Satish Poonia labelled the event a "political hypocrisy" and suggested that Congress first discuss the pledges it made during the 2014 Assembly elections.

"It is going to be three years for the Congress government of the state, which is known for not fulfilling promises and making false promises. This is its report card and this Congress rally is just a political hypocrisy," Poonia was quoted by PTI in its report.
