New Delhi: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said that some old laws in Meghalaya create obstacles in the lives of common man and so the Central government has decided to remove such archaic laws to reduce the burden on the people, news agency ANI reported.
“Some old laws work as impediments to normal life of common people and we've to reduce compliance burden on people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi desires that common people should live peacefully and there should be minimum presence of government in their lives,” ANI quoted Rijiju as saying.
“We've decided to remove all obsolete and archaic laws enacted long time back and have no relevance in today's time, from the statute box. Unnecessary laws are burden for common man and must be reduced. We've already removed over 1500 laws,” the Union Minister further said.
