New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati on Monday announced that her party would contest all the future elections on its own and is breaking all ties with Samajwadi Party in the state. This comes a day after reports of Mayawati blaming Akhilesh’s SP for massive defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections surfaced.

As per reports, Mayawati during BSP’s National Executive meeting blamed Akhilesh Yadav for the humiliating defeat of their alliance in Lok Sabha polls and said alliance with the Samajwadi Party was a 'big mistake'. Now, BSP Chief has denied the reports saying “All these allegations are false and media was not present during the meeting”. She further said that the party had also issued a press note clarifying the same.

“BSP’s all India meeting went on for 2.5 hours yesterday. After this there were back to back meetings till late night, where media wasn’t present. That is why the rumours which are spread about BSP Chief aren’t correct and we have also shared a press note over the same” Mayawati tweeted.

She further said, “It is known by everyone that BSP forgot all the anti-BSP and anti-Dalit decisions, and work against reservation in promotion and devastated law and order situation in the state, during SP government tenure in 2012-17 and justified our alliance with SP in the interest of the country”.

“But, after Lok Sabha general elections, SP’s behavior has forced BSP to think that will it be possible to defeat BJP in the future like this? Therefore thinking about the party, BSP has decided to contest all small and big future elections alone” she added.

The BSP entered into an electoral alliance with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) and Chaudhary Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls. The alliance, however, failed to make an impact in the politically crucial state.  While the BSP managed to win ten seats, SP got five seats and RLD drew a blank.

Hitting back at Mayawati, SP Lok Sabha MP ST Hasan said, “Mayawati is looking for excuses to break alliance, if she had decided to contest polls alone, then SP will also contest alone.” “Even earlier we used to contest polls single-handedly.”

“See it for yourself who benefitted from the alliance and who had to face the loss. Who had how many seats and how many did they get in these polls. She shouldn’t put a blame on Akhilesh ji like this” she added.
