The accident took place after a mini-bus went out of the driver's control and plunged into the Chenab River in the Thakrie area.
"Reports indicate that there were 25 people in the mini-bus. A search is on to locate if there are more people," the police added.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, where their treatment is underway.
The cops have initiated a rescue operation and attempts are being made to save the people who are trapped. More details on the same are awaited.
In a similar accident, driver of a bus plunged into a ravine in Telangana killing 57 people, including 39 women and four children, were killed.
The driver of the bus was amongst those who were dead.
