Los Angeles: A shocking incident rocked Los Angeles on Monday when a gunman at San Diego apartment pool blindly opened fire, injuring at least eight persons.

As per the police, the accused was immediately shot down and killed in an encounter.

As per reports, the shooting took place while several adults were attending a birthday party at the La Jolla Crossroads apartment’s swimming pool on Sunday night.

According to San Diego police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, authorities received several calls about the shooting at the upscale complex.

A police helicopter reached the area first and authorities could see a shooter near the pool who appeared to be reloading his weapon, Zimmerman said.

After reaching the spot, the gunman pointed his gun at the cops after which three police officers opened fire at the gunman.

As per a resident of La Jolla Crossroads apartment, he was in his apartment when he heard gunshots followed by yelling and screams. He ran to his building's clubhouse where he could see the pool.
An eyewitness also claimed that the shooter seemed at ease. "He had his beer in one hand and his gun in the other," said the witness. He added that as the shooter was at ease, the bloodied victims struggled.

The cops are yet to find out the reason behind the shooting. A probe has been launched and the police are trying to identify the accused.
