Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his failure to visit ethnically charged Manipur, news agency ANI reported. Speaking with media, Kharge said: “Unfortunate incidents took place in Manipur; PM speaks everywhere, does photo sessions but does not visit that state. PM can visit Lakshadweep but can't go to Manipur.” While the Prime Minister has made time for picture opportunities in Lakshadweep and elsewhere, Kharge claimed that he has not made time to visit conflict-torn Manipur and deliver a healing message to its people.

Slamming Kharge over questioning PM Modi, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said: "Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress party have done nothing except spread confusion across the country. They did political tourism by going to Manipur. Union Home Minister and Prime Minister are resolving the issues in Manipur. During their (Congress) regime, Manipur burned for 6 years. We have brought this under control. They should not confuse people."

On Saturday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge spelled out the political agenda for Rahul Gandhi's impending Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. He stated that the Yatra will visit 110 districts, 100 Lok Sabha seats, and 337 assembly constituencies, making it the largest popular outreach before the Lok Sabha elections. The yatra, which will commence on January 14, 2024, will travel 6,700 km from Imphal, Manipur, to Mumbai, India.
