Mengaluru: A heated argument erupted between a doctor and staff of a supermarket in Mangaluru after the former refused to wear face mask while shopping. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media where the accused doctor can be seen not wearing a mask inside a supermarket and even justifying the act.
It all started when the doctor, identified as B Srinivas Kakkilaya, refused to wear a mask, while shopping at Jimmy's Super Mart Kadri, Ryan Rosario in the city.
In the viral video, Dr Kakkilaya while arguing at the billing counter of the supermarket can be heard saying: "mask ki zaroorat nahi" (there is no need of mask).
Despite several attempts made by supermarket staff, the doctor refused to wear a mask saying that the government has made a foolish rule. It is to be noted that several state administrations have made it mandatory for everyone to wear face mask while moving out or at any public place.
As per media reports, a case has been registered against Dr B Srinivas Kakkilaya under Epidemic Act at East (Kadri) police station.

Soon after the video went viral on social media, nitizens started criticising the doctor and even demanded strict action against him for putting others' live in danger.
"Oh he is a MBBS doctor and has a clinic too. I am really concerned about the patients who come to him," wrote a Twitter user.
Several states levy hefty fine from those seen not wearing masks in public places as authorities have been cracking the whip on those who break the rule.
