West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the BJP on Friday, claiming the saffron party was using investigative agencies to target her party members and members of her family. The accusation was made at a party rally in Bankura virtually from Kolkata, after the CBI summoned her nephew, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, to its office at Nizam Palace in Kolkata on Saturday in connection with its investigation into the school jobs scam.

"BJP is after everyone in our party and my family, but we are not afraid of them," TMC Supremo said, implying that the saffron party was behind the summons issued to Abhishek by the central investigative agency, adding that "BJP is afraid of the success of our campaign," she was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

"Our fight against the BJP's tyranny will continue until it is removed from the Centre," Mamata Banerjee declared.

Banerjee had to step in at the last minute to address the rally virtually from Kolkata, as Abhishek Banerjee, who is currently in the district, had to leave for Kolkata at 11 AM on Saturday to appear before the CBI.

Earlier today, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, who has been summoned by the CBI to appear at its Kolkata office on Saturday as part of its investigation into the school jobs scam, has decided to temporarily halt his mass outreach campaign in order to participate in the investigation.

On Thursday, the Calcutta High Court dismissed Banerjee's petition seeking the recall of a previous order of the court that stated that investigative agencies such as the CBI and ED could question him about the teacher recruitment scam.

Kuntal Ghosh, an accused in the scam, filed a complaint in which the TMC leader's name appeared. Ghosh claimed that central investigating agencies were pressuring him to name Abhishek Banerjee in the school scam case.
