New Delhi: Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday in a veiled attack on rebel Sena MLA Eknath Shinde and his supporting legislators shared a quote by author Rudyard Kipling hinting towards not running behind money or power. In a tweet by Raut, he shared the quote along with an image of the author and captioned it “Jai Maharashtra”.
The quote by Kipling goes: “Beware of overconcern for money, or position, or glory. Someday you will meet a man who cares for none of these things. Then you will know how poor you are.”
The political crisis in Maharashtra continued for the fifth day today as party MLAs migrated to rebel legislator Eknath Shinde’s camp.
Amid the crisis, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has called a meeting of the party’s national executive committee at 1 pm today, as per a report by the news agency ANI. The meeting will be held in Shiv Sena Bhavan and will be virtually joined by the Chief Minister.
The meeting comes a day after Thackeray had addressed the district chiefs of Shiv Sena wherein he said that the rebel MLAs who are camping in Guwahati want to “break the party”.
Meanwhile, the rebel camp also filed a notice on June 21 to move a motion for the removal of Deputy Speaker Narhari Jirwal from his post.
The rebel group said that Deputy Speaker Narhari Jirwal accepted Uddhav Thackeray’s demand for the removal of Shinde and disqualification of 15 MLAs without consulting the other side.
