Maha: Policeman Martyred After Being Ambushed By Naxalites In Gadchiroli; Operation Underway

Maharashtra: A police personnel was martyred in an ambush by the Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra after which an encounter broke out. Firing between the two parties is still ongoing. The Maharashtra government sought help of the Indian Air Force for back up along with the Chhattisgarh Police. According to the report one personnel was shot dead and another was injured.

Last week, a Naxal camp was destroyed and an attempt to trigger a blast using IEDs was foiled by police in Gadchiroli. The Naxals fled from the spot leaving their belongings. A bomb disposal squad was called and 10 kg of explosive material buried in the ground was found which was disposed carefully.
In February, a member of the Naxal Dalam, involved in several murders and an ambush attack on police, was arrested in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. According to the police, the Naxal Dalam member has been identified as Guddu Ram Kudyami. Naxal Dalam is one of the outfits working under the umbrella of the Naxal organisations.
In a statement, the police said according to ANI, "On February 22, 2021, under the guidance of Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP), Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) and Additional SP Aheri, a C-60 squad operated on special input and successfully apprehended the suspect. The police force of Gadchiroli successfully arrested three Naxals within 15 days."
