In a major development, the accused named Sai Nath Lingade who allegedly murdered the Sadhu has been arrested. As per reports, the accused immediately ran away from the spot after the incident.
The accused, a history-sheeter with a 10-year-old murder case against his name, was held a few hours later from Tanur police station limits along the Telangana state border, police told PTI.
As per reports, bodies of both the seers have been found inside the ashram near the bathroom of the house.
“A sadhu's body was found at his Ashram in Nanded's Umri late last night,” Vijaykumar Magar, Superintendent Of Police, Nanded, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
While talking to ABP News, PWD Minister of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan said that the murder of the Sadhus should not be politicised.
Palghar Lynching:
The incident comes close on the heels of Palghar lynching incident. Two seers and their driver were lynched by a mob in Kasa police station limits in neighbouring Palghar district while they were on their way to attend a funeral in Surat in Gujarat amid the lockdown for the coronavirus outbreak.
