New Delhi: A one and a half year old girl from Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district in Maharashtra, who tested positive for Covid-19 with Omicron variant recently, was discharged from the hospital after recovering, reported PTI. A three year old boy who was also infected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19 was asymptomatic and keeping well, the health officials said.

The three year old boy was among the four new patients reported by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in the area. The other three patients are all adults including two males and one female who were contacts of an Indian origin woman and her two daughters who were found positive with the new strain of the coronavirus upon arrival form Nigeria.

The woman had come to meet her brother in Pimpri Chinchwad. The officials said that apart from the mother and her two daughters from Nigeria, the woman's brother and his two daughters including the one and a half year old toddler were found to be infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

"Out of the six Omicron patients found earlier, four patients, including the one-and-a-half-year-old have been discharged from the hospital after they tested negative during their repeat test," said an official.

"Barring one female, who had dry cough, all the patients, including the baby, are asymptomatic and keeping fine. The woman, who had dry cough, also tested negative in the repeat test and was given discharge along with three others. The other two females tested positive in the repeat test and that is why they are currently in hospital, but they are also keeping fine," the official added.

The three year old boy who was found Covid positive with Omicron variant along with three new patients was keeping fine at the paediatric care, said Dr Laxman Gophane medical officer of PCMC. He further said that other three patients were also asymptomatic and that there was no cause of worry.

Meanwhile the only Omicron positive patient from Pune was discharged on Friday after testing negative, the officials said. The person had returned from Finland to Pune.
