New Delhi: Maharashtra on Sunday reported 75 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 81,68,403, the state health department said. The death toll stood at 1,48,542 as no fatality was reported in the last 24 hours. With the fresh infections, the active caseload stood at 864. Meanwhile, Delhi clocked 26 new cases and the positivity rate stood at 1.49 per cent. The national capital did not report any death in the last 24 hours.
In Maharashtra, Mumbai circle reported 46 fresh infections, the highest in the state, followed by eight in Akola circle, seven in Pune circle, six in Kolhapur, five in Nagpur and one each in Nashik, Aurangabad and Latur.
As per the state health department data, Mumbai city logged 18 fresh cases but zero Covid-19 fatality, which raised the tally of infections to 11,62,598 and the death toll remained unchanged at 19,769. The cumulative number of recoveries in the state rose to 80,18,997 after 178 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. The Covid-19 recovery rate in Maharashtra is 98.17 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.81 per cent, health data showed.
Meanwhile, India reported 1,272 new Covid infections, while the active cases dipped to 15,515, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll increased to 5,31,770 with three deaths. While two deaths were reported from Punjab, one was from West Bengal.
The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore (4,49,80,674). The active cases now comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.78 per cent, the Health Ministry said.
The number of people who have recovered from the infection surged to 4,44,33,389 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent. As per the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
