New Delhi: As the cases of coronavirus cross 5000 in Maharashtra, the government has decided to revoke Lockdown relaxations in Mumbai and Pune. On Friday, April 17, the government had allowed certain industrial activities to resume work in 20 of its 36 districts. It had also allowed certain industrial activities in the Mumbai metropolitan region (MMR) and Pune metropolitan region (PMR) area which are the biggest industrial hub of the state. These included agriculture-related activities, E-commerce companies, Electrical and electronic supplies, confectionaries, sweet shops, courier services, restaurants with take- away and some construction activity while maintaining all precautionary measures for preventing the virus. But as the situation has not improved, the government has decided to revise the earlier order and has removed these allowances. It was also observed that the earlier decision led to a large number of people commuting and this was considered as a threat in the present situation.
According to a report by IANS, the government revoked all the relaxation rules for Mumbai and Pune especially in the MMR and PMR area. Similarly, the earlier order that gave exemptions to print media and door to door to delivery of newspapers has also been changed. In the earlier order delivery of newspapers was allowed and it was required that personal wear mask and carry sanitisers. The new order prohibits door to door delivery in MMR, PMR and containment zones. In these areas, it will be sold through an establishment that is exempted.

The exception has been given to e-commerce companies and the government has directed that with special permissions e-commerce companies and their vehicles that supply essential commodities such as food and medicines can continue to ply.
Additionally, the Maharashtra government has also urged the center to provide means to send migrant workers back home.
